Prior to co-founding AERF, Olivier was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs in Africa. He has over 16 years of experience in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and J.P.Morgan and raised over $25bn of strategic capital for African corporates. He trained a mathematician, turned into an investment banker and now is an economic revolutionary. Olivier believes that Africa is on the verge of entering a great economic revolution.

Daniel is a long distance runner, having completed 4 comrades and 28 marathons. When he is not running, Daniel spends his time looking for new investment opportunities. Prior to co-founding AERF, Daniel spent 19 years in investment banking at Standard Chartered and J.P.Morgan where he raised over $50bn of capital for African firms. He is co-founder of XinaBox, a startup in modular hardware for EdTech and IOT. Daniel believes in the power of technology and its ability to impact lives in Africa.

Advisor to the Board

Fola co-founded Foodpro in 2012, which is now a leading producer of branded cashew nuts in Nigeria and employs over 300 Nigerians, 85% of which are women. Fola also used to moonlight working at KKR as a principal in their Africa team and prior to that as head of M&A at Stanbic IBTC. He has 15 years’ experience in private equity, investment banking and principal investing in Africa, having advised on over $20bn of M&A transactions for African firms.  Fola believes in entrepreneurship as a vector for economic empowerment.

Co-Founder & Partner

Dirk works at Bowmans as a director in their M&A practice in Johannesburg during the day and at AERF in Lagos as our general counsel at night. Dirk has 14 years’ experience in corporate law and worked at Linklaters in Europe prior to returning to SA at Bowmans. In addition to working on landmark mega transactions, he is also an adviser to several tech companies in Africa. Dirk has patented his telepathy solution and put a poison pill in our partnership agreement precluding us to invest in it.
